Black Bean Mash

Black Bean Mash

Great for base in tacos, or side for a hearty breakfast.

Ingredients

Step 1

  • 1/2 cup white onion diced
  • two jalapenos loosely seeded and diced
  • One clove garlic diced

Step 2

  • Two cans black beans
  • 1 Roma diced
  • 2 tbsp Melinda’s habenero garlic sauce
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 cup water or stock

Step 3

  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1/4 cup water or stock

Directions

  1. Cook onion, jalapeno, and garlic in olive oil until softened
  2. Add beans, tomato, hot sauce, salt, and stock. Then mash 2/3 of beans, and simmer until very soft (>15 min). Add liquid as needed.
  3. Add spices, simmer until desired consistency (>5 mins).
